By 2025 it is estimated that 1.1 billion women will be post-menopausal. That is over 10% of the global population! According to the “Out of Touch on Menopause” article published by MERCOLA (Take Control of Your Health) on 26th August 2024 about half the world’s population is in this natural transition at any time and yet little attention is paid to this life changing time or how to treat it.
Women experience this natural menopause transition differently but for many symptoms can be uncomfortable and debilitating and can last between seven to ten years, starting approximately during a woman’s mid 40’s.The duration of time to transition through these changes can be influenced by lifestyle choices like smoking, ethnicity and the age that a woman starts perimenopause.
According to an article, “What is Menopause?” published in The National Institute on Ageing. “The menopausal transition affects each woman uniquely and in various ways. The body begins to use energy differently, fat cells change, and women may gain weight more easily. You may experience changes in your bone or heart health, your body shape and composition, or your physical function.”
During the menopause many women report suffering with tiredness, sore joints, insomnia, high blood pressure, hot flushes and weight gain. Menopause specialist Dr Wendy Sweet (PhD) reports that;
As a Transformational Life and Mindset Coach and Reinvention Strategist, I help women who are approaching midlife and beyond navigate transitional life phases assisting them to move successfully through the physical, emotional and psychological changes experienced during their natural ageing process. These include navigating midlife, peri menopause, menopause and post menopause, empty nest syndrome and supporting them during and after retirement.
This period in a woman’s life often coincides with their last child leaving home, the onset of a chronic illness and ones own parents needing more care and support. Some women may also experience a grey divorce – couples going separate ways post 50 years old. This might inspire or necessitate a return to work during a woman’s 50’s or 60’s decade, where employment options are often limited. Some women might also start to contemplate their own ageing and mortality making this midlife period one of tremendous physical, psychological and emotional adjustment which is often accompanied by feelings of grief, anxiety and depression.
By understanding the unique physical, emotional and psychological challenges and changes that occur naturally during a woman’s menopause journey and the mind-body-spirit connection, I can provide a holistic, integrated approach with lifestyle solutions, coping strategies and techniques to help mitigate symptoms like tiredness, mood swings, palpitations, aching joints, brain fog, and weight gain.
My objective is to offer a comprehensive healthcare plan that treats the whole woman. I will help you gain a deeper self-awareness and understanding about why you are feeling so out of sorts, and then by focusing on quality sleep, healthy nutrition, regular movement, stress management and bolstering self-esteem and confidence which are often knocked during these transitions, I will help you to take back control and balance your health and well-being as is appropriate for your age and stage of life. This holistic approach is founded on lifestyle changes which as you transition will enable you to be reunited with your sense of self feeling like the old you again, ready to embrace opportunities that often arise during this journey and transforming successfully into new life chapters. I have come through these transitions myself, so I understand where you are and how you are feeling and can empower you to take control and help yourself .
The National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) confirms how effective clinical hypnotherapy can be in helping to manage menopausal symptoms with Menopause Care stating that it “can help reduce hot flushes and night sweats by up to 74% and can help improve sleep, mood and general well-being.” Furthermore the NCH sites recent research that shows that “50% of menopausal women aren’t going for promotion, or they’re taking early retirement. 20% choose to leave the workforce entirely because they find their symptoms unmanageable.” If this is you, you are not alone and I can help you to mitigate your symptoms.
